Indigenous Consultation Contacts

Please note that all consultation timelines and consultation adequacy decisions associated with The Government of Alberta’s Guidelines on Consultation with First Nations on Land and Natural Resource Management are temporarily paused due to unexpected circumstances for the Doig River First Nation from January 4-19, 2018 inclusive.

Alberta acknowledges that some First Nations and Metis Settlements may close their consultation offices for the holiday season. As a result, the Aboriginal Consultation Office (ACO) will not use the period of December 18, 2017 to January 1, 2018 (inclusive) for calculating consultation timelines associated with First Nations and Metis Settlement consultation process; this includes:
     -  the time a First Nation or Metis Settlement has to respond to notification of a project;
     -  the time a First Nation or Metis Settlement has to review a Record of Consultation log, and
     -  the time to review and respond to a project follow up.
Pre-consultation Assessment Requests and Adequacy Assessments Requests submitted prior to the above noted timeline will continue to be reviewed as normal by the ACO until end of working day on December 22, 2017. The ACO will be closed for regular operation from December 23, 2017 to January 1, 2018 (inclusive).

Please be advised that Indigenous Relations makes every effort to ensure the Consultation contacts are kept up-to-date, however prior to any changes being made, appropriate documentation must be obtained from the First Nation or Metis Settlement.
